Taking a mental health day/being a good jew for the Shapiro family. I just made a great “modern” spin on Haroseth that I got out of Bon Appetit Mag…it’s seriously amazing if you’re looking to mix things up at your sedar (I fight for the reigns of creative control every year). It was super easy - take a look!
Pistachio + Dried Fruit Haroseth (yields 8, about 3 cups)
1 1/2 C unsalted pistachios
1/2 C chopped pitted dates
1/2 C chopped dried cherries or dried cranberries
1/2 C chopped dried apricots
1/4 C sweet Passover wine….Manishevitz anyone?
1/4 C pure pomegranate juice
1 T honey
1 1/2 t fresh lemon juice
1 t fresh grated orange peel
1 t cinnamon
1 t nutmeg
fresh mint sprigs (for garnish)
—stir pistachios in heavy metal skillet over medium skillet until toasty for a few mins. Set aside to cool.
—Combine dates, cherries, apricots, wine and juice in medium bowl. Let stand for 15 mins, stir occasionally. Minx in honey, lemon juice, orange peel + spices. Chop pistachios + mix in. Garnish with mint sprigs. Enjoy!
