3-day Wax Carving & Stone Setting Intensive

In this three day workshop, we'll cover all the basics of wax carving including use of hand tools, flex shaft and wax materials. Learn to carve a basic ring and pendant using a variety of wax carving techniques including subtractive and additive with both hard and soft waxes. Learn to carve a variety of settings for gemstones. Cover how to work with casting houses to get your wax creations cast in metal; how to choose the right company and how to have the best wax models for making one-of-a-kinds and multiples for production. Learn to clean a metal casting and set a gemstone.
Materials and use of hand tools included (no need to bring your own tools). This is an intensive class taught with artist and author Emilie Shapiro.
