This intermediate level online class is really a two for one! I demonstrate two different projects with different styles of cast in place stone settings – an eternity band and a solitaire ring. These methods can be applied not just to rings, but to any piece with stone settings.
Casting in place is an experimental technique where the gemstones are placed directly into the wax and then the entire piece is cast in metal. In the video I’ll explain how the process works, including what type of gemstones to use and tips for successful castings.
I also talk about best practices to send your wax models to a professional caster, and include a list of recommended casters.
This is an intermediate level class and prior knowledge of wax carving and making a basic ring is highly suggested.
