The obvious, are try many different types of flowers. Really play around with how much material you take away to create different dimensions in the piece.

My tips for carving realistic pieces...
The more you work on the different levels, the more realistic and sculptural your piece will look. Think about what you take away as the background, anything that stays surface level is middle ground, and anything you add on top is foreground.
